BLOG #10: Self Reflection and Evaluation

Skills I expected to learn were how to properly post.  How to construct a good sentence without unnecessary verbiage.

I believe I am capable.  The pandemic, Covid-19 put a dent in my skills.  Having to go home, and not have my network of people to collaborate with put a damper on my production skills.  I learned how to create a google map and how to layer it.

One of my soft skills improved is my eye.  When looking at other twitters and or blogs, I see and appreciate the work put into the blog.  I look for interview lines.  I am preparing better, doing research prior to interviews or watching blogs.  Knowing the backstory or knowing what I am getting into so that I do not look the fool.  When listening to all of these press conferences surrounding the pandemic, I am thinking of hashtags I could use and other connections that I could make while watching interviews and broadcast.  I think while watching something or seeing something, oh that would make a good story.  Another skill I improved was listening.  I am paying attention to interviews, the questions asked, and the answers given.  Did the person being interview actually answer the question asked.  In California right now, you can turn the TV on and someone important in the state is being interviewed, taking questions.  They rarely answer the question being asked.  I noticed it during my live assignment too.  Gronk did not answer the question, and I really wanted /want to know the answer.

Skills learned that will help me in my future career are, that critical eye, not only in my own work but critique the shot prior to taking it, not only in the ‘photo’ but in the person to interview too.  Choosing the right line to place, the right title to put with a picture.  Constantly looking for the story and the connections.  I find myself looking more into people and things, getting sucked into the information they stand for.  Following hashtags.  I am also preparing more thoroughly because I am now on camera. I think while watching something or seeing something, oh that would make a good story.

Blog number 7 embed my map.  This was the most meaningful assignment for me because I learned from it, and took the information I learned, regarding the need for blood during the pandemic, and shared it. #giveblood

The most challenging assignment was the story.  I could not decide on a topic and being at home, stuck in the house, I felt limited.

The advice I would give myself would be to be more relaxed, enjoy it more.  I would like to go back now knowing what I know and do the assignments again.  I say this because there were things that I needed to learn prior to completing assignments.  This added pressure to my timelines.  There was an heir of get the assignment done, rather than an enjoyment.  I think I am more creative then my assignments came across.
